We all strive to live with confidence in our daily lives. This is easy when life is easy and trouble-free. But can we live with confidence when we are in the midst of trouble and turmoil? How are we to think about the source of our confidence and what it can mean for our lives, our church, and our spheres of influence? Psalm 46 puts us on the path to understanding the connection between our confidence and our God. |

Fall 2008 Sermon Series: "A Heartfelt Faith" |

 Our Fall sermon series, "A Heartfelt Faith," will be a 10-week overview of the books of Job & Psalms, which are two of the Poetry/Wisdom books of the Old Testament.
We can intellectually respond to God, and even physically respond to him by serving and doing things. However, how we emotionally respond to God is very important. Right thinking (intellect) and right behavior (will) are not the only things. Right heart response is crucial also...in fact, this may be the hardest part. Every time a circumstance happens, or a relationship is strained, or a conversation surprises us, we have emotional responses. Our desire is that even our feelings and emotions are under His guidance and direction. The authors of Job and Psalms lay out some raw emotions in their response to events in their respective lives. Their writings will help teach us how we should emotionally respond to God as we understand more about His character. |
