Children's Ministry Staff: Doreen Wong

Doreen Wong

Doreen, her husband, Adam, and their two daughters, Penny & Priscilla moved from Canada back in 2002. She is currently ministering children on Friday Night Children Program and 3 to 4 years old classes in Promiseland. The bible says “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” Proverbs 22:6. Doreen believes that everyone has responsibility to teach children to know God and to bring them to God. Especially in this confusing age of moral standard and value. She feels that this is very important and will benefit their whole life. Only Jesus Christ is our generation’s Principal, Guidance and Hope. Doreen also serves in Women Fellowship and Morning Light Fellowship.

Youth Intern: Calvin Yiu

Calvin Yiu

Calvin grew up in sunny/humid South Florida. In 2005, he came to Austin to study Civil Engineering at the University of Texas. Amid his busiest semester in college, he felt God calling him to step out in faith and serve His most precious: His children - more specifically, the Youth (AKA Wildfire and Lighthouse). His burden is to invest in the youth as they lay the foundations for the rest of their lives and prepare for college and beyond. Calvin served as a youth counselor for a year prior to joining the ACC staff as the Youth intern in March 2009. His ministry is motivated by Jesus' words in Matthew 19:14, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven."

English Ministry Assistant: Kathy Woo

Kathy Woo

Kathy is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston. She went to college in St. Louis and stayed out in the midwest for a few years to work, but her heart belonged in Texas. She moved back to Texas (this time Austin) in 2007 and found a home at Austin Chinese Church. She has taught elementary school for the past 5 years but recently decided to take a break from teaching and explore other career opportunities. She is married to her wonderful husband Edwin, and they have 2 adorable dogs. Kathy is very excited to be able to use her God-given gifts to serve ACC as a ministry assistant!
